Blogger, You Suck

I logged into Blogger today only to find that the entire interface had been updated to look a hell of a lot like GMail.  Now, I have to say that I absolutely despise, hate, loathe, wish to burn down, the Gmail interface!  I HATE GMAIL!  I am seriously considering finding another blog application.  However, I'm up to almost 600 posts, and I'm not sure if I want to really start over.  MER!  That's the way of corporations these days.  They force unwelcome changes on you, and put you in a position of picking which thing you don't want to do least, and having to go with that.

It's like, Hey, would you like to be punched in the balls, or shot in the face?  Your choice.

How about I don't like either choice?  What if I just keep doing what I was doing before, instead?  Can't I just do that?  I mean, I was going along fine without being punched in the nuts, or being shot in the eye.  That process was working fine for me, so could we maybe just continue along that line?

So, I hate you Blogger.  You look like Gmail, and that's not a compliment.  Please go die.

A Venue

Great news!  Last week I discussed how I wasn't happy with our performance space for That Theatre, Co.'s upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest.  Well, speaking with some people we have found an alternative, and we've even secured sponsors to pay for the space!  I'm happy to report that we'll be in a small student theatre on the campus of WCC!  I'm thrilled, the cast is thrilled, the production team is thrilled!  Now, we just need to sell some tickets so that we can make a good profit on this show, and we'll be set.  We also decided that we're going to do Julius Caesar for the summer production.  We'd been kicking it around, and thought it had some positives for it, and that we should give it a try.  Very exciting developments!

Moving Day

Today we spend most of the morning and afternoon helping friend move a hot tub (and pool table, and sauna).  First, cool, no problem (even at the unexpected extras).  Second, OMG POOL TABLES ARE TOO HEAVY!  This thing was seriously like 1,000 pounds or something.  I mean, obviously we took the things apart, but the base is solid slate and weight a friggin' ton!  It almost killed us and we had three people carrying each piece of slate.  Third, I hate old houses, especially the ones out in Detroit.  I will amend my sentence,  I would have loved to see the place in the 1940s, it would have been neat, and some of them are kind of charming.  However, large items in a small basement, with terrible stairs and awful access to the stairs results in a demented game of Tetris where everyone loses, and the high score is lung cancer from the dust of the past that is probably laced with death.

Some highlights, the poor kid that help move the slate kept banging his head into the slate as we jostled it up the stairs.  HAHA!  The amazing art on the house we passed.  I mean, epic murals of lions, elephants and some sort of bird of prey (natural not Klingon).  And the most comfy and nice moving truck I have ever seen.  Penske gets an A+ on that one.

So, that's how the day went.  Lot of moving, but nothing else planned to do and it was cold and rainy, so cool!  Tomorrow I hope it's warmer out, but whateves.

Wha?

Hey Guy,

How about you be clear?  It's like playing a game of telephone with Helen Keller!  If you want me to do something then you need to be clear what you're asking.  Not vaguely say something that you want me to do, that I research and find is impossible, but then you march into my office, call a guy up on the phone to teach me how to do something, only to find that something is what I ALREADY know how to do, but was NOT the thing you asked me to do in the first place.  I don't appreciate that, it's quite annoying.

Also, I don't care for your attitude.  You are abrasive and irritating.  Please stop being a jerk.

A Letter To The Car

Dear Car,

Hey, how you doing?  So guess what, you're turning 7 this year!  Wow, good for you!  Your brother (or are car like ships and all girls?) is turning 9 this year!  You've gone a lot of places, and seen a lot of things!  That's great for you!  And for the most part you've been pretty good.  You hung in there when that deer totally attacked you out of the blue, and then took a giant poop on the side of you!  And, to have 150,000 miles is quite a lot, so good for you.

Now, I understand that you need your fluids changed, but really, all at once?  Couldn't you stagger things?  I mean, five things all at once is a bit excessive and expensive.  I'm happy that you seem to be feeling better, and I expect that investing so much into you that you'll see an increased gas mileage, since we both have to admit you've been kind of sucking at lately.  I will give you a chance to step up next week when we drive to Florida.  Thanks for all your hard work, keep it up.  Also, in future to stagger your needs so it's not all at once.

kthxbai.

Vacation

Happy Wednesday!

I'll be happier next Wednesday when most of the week is over and we're heading into the start of a vacation.  I haven't had a vacation since we went to Europe, and that wasn't necessarily relaxing as we were in a strange place, and I wasn't getting paid during that week, so financially it was stressful.  So it will be nice to have some paid time off where I can relax, and what better place to do that than in Florida?  A week in Florida will be fantastic!  So, next week off we will go for some time off and a chance to recharge.  Very excited.  I wish it was this weekend, but I will wait a week more!  Nine days.

Like Sandpaper

Went to rehearsal today to check in on the food money issue.  Not many people submitted, at least not enough, so I had to go up to remind and collect from people, or at the very least discuss the issue so that we know who needs food and then we can deal with the money later.

Got to see a bit of the show.  There are three weeks to go, and I have to say this is probably the least polished I have ever seen a show.  There are still HUGE line issues, there are character issues, there is a focus issue.  It's really rough, and a bit of a train wreck.  I hope they pull it together, usually at the end it comes together, however it seems in a worse spot than usual.  We shall see what happens.

I am sick.

Nothing more.

Sleep.

One Hundred and Thirty Five Gallons

Today I moved 135 gallons of rocks.  That's probably not the best way to measure rocks, but I filled up a 5 gallon bucket 27 times with rocks from my front yard.  So that's how I measured it.  You may recall from previous blogs that the previous owners of house seemed to have a sick affinity with limestone.  It was freaking everywhere!  We had the giant circle of rocks that was concealing Lucifer the manhole cover, it was around all the trees, a strip up it all along the driveway, lining the front of the house! EVERYWHERE!  Well, two summers ago we got rid of the giant circle, and from around the trees.  Today we removed it from the front of the house, leaving a small patch in front of the library, and then the side of the house.

PROGRESS!

I now feel beat!  Seriously!  Also starting to feel sick.  No good.

Piano

Piano! Piano! No, it's a clarinet.

Today I got a piano! YEAH!  A cousin had a piano that they didn't want, and well I did so we went and picked up up thanks to The Council!  Wonderful!  It was pretty heavy, but I have to say it seemed to go pretty smoothly, which was nice.  I took some piano way back in High School but never had anything to practice on after that so I really haven't don much in years, and would like to get back into it.  It's quite nice, and I fixed the screw that was missing from the music holder already, so that was nice.  Anyhow, that's all we got for today.

This Will Not Do!

A cafeteria is no place for a show.  The seating is bad, the acoustics are dreadful, and the lighting is absurd.  Something must be done to resolve this issue, and sadly I think that means going outside our community, which is sad.  But that's is what has to be done for now.  We'll see what we can work out.

Clarity

Tonight action was taken that should help clear up any confusion that may be out there. It really was a misstep from the start but often it's unknown until it is brought up as an issue. Either way, the rules are now clear and we shouldn't have any unanswerable questions.

Does that mean it will make people happy? No, probably not. In fact, I expect complaints.

Such is life.

Extending A Branch

My favorite thing is when you extend a hand and are rejected. That is really my favorite. Especially when someone else was being an ass, you make effort and are met with nothing.

Pottermore!

Today I joined Pottermore, which is a lot of fun, though they need to hurry up and open more content. It's a pretty neat interactive experience that I really wish they had developed as the books were coming out. It would have been great to have it while waiting for months and years for the next installment. Pretty much you explore the books through pictures and excerpts. Then you also get some never before released material from JK Rowling's stash of notes she made while making the books. It's really neat to hear stories about people and events that she always had in her head but never told anyone of.

I also enjoyed the way that you get your wand and are sorted because it wasn't really obvious what the answers would result in. I got sorted to Ravenclaw, which is fine. I've always felt that I was there in the Gryffindor/Ravenclaw border. I think in the end I've always leaned Gryffindor, but felt that Ravenclaw is totally fine too.

A few things I don't enjoy are that there is only content through book 1, which I've finished. I also wish there was more interaction with people, like ways to comment with your friends, or ask questions. There's a message thing in the common room, but it's just a single stream so it's really hard to ask a question and see a response. So that's not helpful because I have some questions that I'm sure some of the older people would be able to answer, but no way to communicate.

Anyhow, this will be a good waste of time.

Standing Room Only

Last week we were at a special board meeting, and this week was the regular board meeting. I knew we probably wouldn't be able to stay the entire time because there were three presentations which usually eat a ton of time. I pretty much go to every board meeting to keep up on what's happening in the district, and generally there's about 8-10 people in the audience at most. We were shocked to show up today and find that there was not much parking and when walking into the meeting location there were NO SEATS! Yes, every single one of the seats were filled.

At first I wasn't sure what it was all about, and thought perhaps it had to do with the presentation from one of the elementary schools. The students were going to come in and sing a song from their production of The Jungle Book. Often when this happens you end up with a ton of parents who stay for 5 minutes until the kids are done then they all leave.

Well, no one left. Turns out this had to do with that special meeting that we attended last week. You see, there is a program that was displaced to a different building on a temporary basis. Well the special meeting was to workshop where the program could be moved to permanently, and the choice was to put it in one of two schools and move those students to the other schools in the district (or the students at that school could join the program). Apparently the parents at this school were not happy with that plan and were there to protest.

Here's my problem. It's a consolidated school district, which means its not like closing a neighborhood school. These students are just going to move their classrooms to the building next door, or the one on the other side of campus. The teachers will have to move as well, so it's not like they're going to be losing teachers either. Really, it's just a building change. Incidentally, the parents of the special program threw a fit about being moved too. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, IT'S ONLY A BUILDING!

I don't understand this hysterical response to changing to a different building. It's the same district, same curriculum, it all feeds to the same middle school and high school. It's no further away than the other building, in fact the buses all park in the same place. And yet, this minor change of facility is leaving parents in an uproar about how their kids have to change buildings. I mean, not so long ago the set up was that students changed buildings every few years because rather than having four elementary schools with multiple grades, they had four schools that had certain grades in each one. So, all Kingergarten was in one building 1/2/3 in one building 4/5 in another, and so on. So, by the time you got to middle school you had been in every building.

Additionally, THIS is what you're here to complain about? THIS? How about the fact that the recent test scores are embarrassingly low? That students aren't proficient in any subject. That the attitude around the schools is one of the biggest issues with the district. That parent involvement is abysmal (unless a kid has to move to a different building). That programs aren't funded. That students don't have enough books to take home for reading and studying. That teachers check out, throw in a movie, hand out a worksheet, or sit behind the desk and drone on from notes that look like they were made in the 1980s or earlier. But, the movement of students from one building to the other is a problem? I find it all absurd.

Personally, I think it's a good choice. It gives the special program room to grow (there is currently a waiting list to get in), and all the students I've dealt with that came from the program are excellent, so I think it's probably a good thing for a program like that to expand. I think these parents need to get a grip and realize that in reality this isn't changing anything. They're just freaking out for nothing when there are plenty of things they could be worried about, but ignore. Additionally, if they didn't like the idea, then perhaps they should attend a board meeting so they know what is going on in the district rather than complaining when the final vote is about to be made. It's much easier to avoid an obstacle when you adjust your course early, than waiting until it's right on top of you and trying to change things. Just ask the Titanic.

Beauty And The Beast

Last night was the drama club's final group sale for this school year and we were at the lovely Fisher Theatre to see Beauty and the Beast. Now, I enjoy this show, I always loved the cartoon, and this is pretty much the same with the addition of some songs. LHS did it a few years back, and Milan did it just a few weeks ago that I got to see. I even got a chance to see it in New York about 10 years back and thought it was just delightful.

I'm sad to say that I'm feeling quite disappointed in the Broadway in Detroit series. The last show we saw was Shrek, and I mentioned in a previous blog that I was a little disappointed in the transition they did. Well, I was highly disappointed in this one. See, with Shrek I wasn't aware of some of the changes until after when I saw some bootleg YouTube from the Broadway version. With Beauty and the Beast, I'm already familiar with the show, so the changes I noticed as I was sitting there.

To begin, they again decided that it was necessary to cut songs from the show. This time it was two songs. In act I Belle and her father sing a song called No Matter What, which is really sweet and quite enjoyable, but they decided to just cut it and jump to her dad heading off to the fair. Incidentally, his contraption was odd, and I didn't even understand what it was supposed to do. Second, in act II they cut the Maison Des Lunes song from the show. They decided that rather than singing the song, they added a scene where they spoke all of the information that was in the song. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT!?!! That's like saying, I'm going to cut the peaches from this recipe and replace it with canned peaches! The song takes about as much time as it took to do the absurd scene.

I also have to say that the sets were really not great. I expect more out of a show done in this type of venue. They were very minimalistic, and nothing at all what one should expect. I give them credit because I do have to say the costumes were nice (though I've always hated the talking cup bit, with the kid's head sticking out of the cart to make it look like he's just a cup. SUPER LAME). I was just totally underwhelmed by the entire set. It also was extremely cartoony and not in a good way, but in a gaudy way that lacked any realistic qualities. Furthermore the magic was just awful. Pretty much they pulled some of the same tricks that we pull at LHS. Oh, need someone to appear? Flash some lights end in a short blackout, and then bring them back up! WOW! MAGIC! It was like watching a community theatre only paying Broadway prices (well, we got a hefty discount, but still...). The theatre is fully equipped, so I don't understand why they couldn't put the proper "magic" into the show. It isn't technically hard, it's actually pretty easy and would have been totally impressive.

I guess the last thing that really got me the most was how bafoonish they made the whole thing. When I've seen it everywhere else, they haven't made it out to be a giant load of BS. They have taken it seriously. Not like this is a somber type show, but this is for real, these are real people. Kind of like when you work with the Muppets. You need to to take it seriously, and it was just so over the top and stupid. Lame sound effects, over exaggerated reactions, unrealistic characteristics. It was just a let down. To me it was as if there was no emotion with any of the actors, there was no heart to the show. I was quite sad.

I think the worst thing was during the title song where Belle and Beast waltz about the stage, except they weren't even waltzing. They were just... moving. Seriously? We can't even manage a proper waltz? It's almost like laziness! Seriously! LEARN A PROPER WALTZ IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO ONE ON STAGE!

That being said, I paid very little, but I'm starting to feel disappointed in these touring productions. Why is it that Les Mis could tour, bringing their full turntable and barricade and Beauty and the Beast can't even manage decent set?

So there you have it. Hopefully next season will go better, but we shall see.

April Showers

Gloomy and blah today! Stupid rain. You know what rain means? The grass grows. Now, I can't be like my neighbor and mow twice a week, at best I can once a week and that's going to be on the weekend. Well when it rains on the weekend then I end up not being able to mow. Before long my lawn looks like a green serengeti. I'm actually concerned that I saw a heard of antelopes graze through the other day. In fact just tonight Ronan seemed to have found something in the grass. I assume it was a toad, because it didn't seem to go far, and it was just out of his reach on his leash. He very nearly pulled me over trying to get to whatever it was.

The other problem is that it prevents any work outdoors. I've got a ton of rocks that really need to go, but no time to get rid of them. Of course once they're moved I also will need to put down some mulch in their place.

So, sum of the story? Please stop raining on weekends. Also, it little warmer would be nice, but not TOO warm. Be reasonable.

Friday The 13th!

Today is Friday the 13th. I'm not sure if that's supposed to mean bad luck or murderers from scary movies. Blah Blah Blah superstition.

I must say that there must be something odd going on. I was allowed to go home early! WHAT THE WHAT?! Yeah, out of the blue! I must be in the twilight zone...

Wait, so if Twilight was in the Twilight Zone, would that make the books all of the sudden no longer sucky? Thoughts to ponder.... Actually, no not really because who wants to ponder anything about Twilight.

Anyhow, that's all that was up today. So... Happy Friday the 13th.

READ THIS POST!

Just kidding, there's nothing important going on here in this post.

It occurred to me as I was looking at my list of recent posts that if I were a random passerby there would be no naming that really jumped out at me. So I might just randomly click a few posts to read. I suppose that friends that infrequently visit might do the same thing.

I then thought it would be funny to make a post that has a stand out title that people might go, "HOLY FUCKNUGGETS! I SHOULD CLICK THAT ONE!" Only to find that they were deceived, and really it was a random post of nothing interesting.

YES! YOU HAVE BEEN HOODWINKED! MWAHAHAHA!

I'm just kidding, I know anyone reading this has probably read all my blogs... probably because the only people who read this are probably Becky and Momwich. (HI GUYS!)

So, there you go. A random post for a random day.

P.S. Watched The Descendents today. I liked it, it was probably more of a character than plot driven movie. I mean you had some plot moving along, but it wasn't the main thing. If you've got time, like George Clooney, or whatever, I'd say give it a watch. Though if you need things that are more plot driven, where things are happening, then you might be bored. I don't know your tastes, stop putting so much pressure on me! GOD! I'm saying I liked it and if you think you might like it, or trust my choice in movies then watch it. If not, then go lick someone's left nostril! I'm not your mom, you can do what you want.

Just kidding...

I am your mom...

No Extensions

Well, anyone who has been to a LHS show will not know what they are looking at because for the first time since 1997, there will be no extension used for the show! Yes, that's right, it is gone. I went up today to help take it down.

You see, for this show Mr. Jacobs wanted to go back to that catwalk/runway addition like we used in 1984 to do some cool actor/audience interactions. Well it seems that earlier a girl fell and cut her hand open on some open screws that were sticking out of the ground. See, these screws were used to attached the seats to the chairs. However the school took the seats out, but never did anything about the screws. Well, the family of the girl who fell apparently is suing the school, so they had to come take a look. Well while looking at that they noticed the catwalk and started asking questions about that.

To me, this seems logical because you have a situation where a student was injured, then you see something new and ask questions. Well apparently the questions led to the fire marshal coming to take a look and ordering that the catwalk and extension be removed. Now, this is something we've used since 1998. We're talking nearly 15 years of the same thing. But, since the inspections usually take place when it's down, and we have limited exits due to the construction, it's a no go.

It will seem weird to not have it there, but things change and there was really no choice in the matter. We got about a third of it taken down and deconstructed today. I'm going back up tomorrow to help finish it up.

Seriously? Siriusly? Srsly?

It seems like there is still BS afoot. Why must this continue? I grow weary of it.

Further Thoughts On Fault

The past two days I was reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green. I did a post yesterday in case you didn't see it. However the entire time I read it, I kept thinking of Esther.

Now if you've read the book you may have noticed at the front it said "To Esther Earl". I often read the "to" portion of the book, but I never really know who the author is talking about, or why the book is dedicated to them, etc. Well, I know Esther. I mean, I don't KNOW her, but I know who she is.

You see Esther got involved in the Nerdfighter/HP Alliance online community, and John even did a few videos about her. Incidentally she also had her own YouTube channel that I happened to watch after John spoke about her. The videos weren't anything groundbreaking or cutting edge, it was just a teenager making videos. In ways her videos reminded me a lot of some of the drama kids. They were a bit strange sometimes, random, goofy, but I liked them, so I watched them.

However, like the characters in The Fault In Our Stars, Esther had cancer. Now, John did point out that Hazel was NOT Esther, and that's certainly true, but he did say she was an inspiration and that totally came through. So it was no surprise that as I read it certain little things would pop up and I'd think about Esther because it seemed like some of the similarities were in a way a shout out to her.

I finished the book yesterday, but still for some reason Esther is in my thoughts. You see, Esther did not win her battle with cancer, and she passed away in 2010 at the age of 16. It's kind of weird to feel sadness for someone I never met, that I never even internet-talked to, and only knew from her posts and videos, but I was sad to hear the news. It's also weird that nearly two years later that she has been in my thoughts so much today.

Thinking of her makes me think of the drama kids. She was about the same age as many of the kids I work with. She had a personality that reminds me a lot of some of them. I don't really have a point here, it's just this stuff is in my mind all day.

In the book they talk about the idea that there is an infinite amount of numbers between 0 and 1. However they say that some infinities are bigger than others (Such as the amount of numbers between 0 and 2). Between birth and death we have an infinite number of moments in which to live, but some of us get larger infinities than others. So reading this book has reminded me of Esther and how her infinity was shorter than many others. Shorter than the kids I work with, shorter than mine, shorter than my great grandmother who lived 99 years and 2 months. Shorter than my grandfather who died of cancer five years ago. It's made me think of how one should use their infinity. I feel you can't waste it, you can't just sit and do nothing, you can't waste it doing something you don't want to do, dwelling on anger or hate, blinded by ignorance, ego, or in pursuit of things that in the end have no true value.

Every year on Esther's birthday Nerdfighters celebrate Esther day. She died a few weeks after her 16th birthday, on that birthday he told her that they would celebrate her birthday in whatever fashion she would want, and she said she wanted it to be a day about love and family. A day to remember to tell those you love that you do love them, that they mean something to you, and to cherish those you have.

So, reading this book has made me think of her, and of these things. It has made me sad that she is gone, and then I think of her family and think about how it would make me feel to be in their place. Then I think that I am grateful for those I have; my friends, my drama kids, my family. And finally I am amazed at the world we live in. That today people around the world can share something. That surely there are countless others who read this book and also though of Esther, who probably like me never met her in person, and who felt sad when she was gone. The world we live in has grown in some amazing ways, it is big and diverse, yet small, and similar all at the same time.

Just some thoughts in my head.

The Fault In Our Stars

Yesterday I began reading The Fault In Our Stars, by John Green. This is a young adult novel, but I really like the author, so I read books that are technically "below me", but whatever. Pretty much it's a story about a young girl and a young boy who fall in love and the relationship they build... oh yeah, and they both are living with or recovering from cancer.

I have to say I thought it was a lovely book. I'm not going to talk about any of the plot points, but I enjoyed the characters, I thought it was a nice story, and that is probably why I breezed through it so quickly. In all reality it only took me a few hours to read it. I have to say that I did like it a lot more than Looking for Alaska. It was pretty clear where the story was going, I mean there's not too much you can do in a story like this. The more you go through the more you can see exactly what it likely to happen. But I don't think that really matters.

It's rather like a movie such as Titanic. You know the events that are going to take place, it's all predetermined. But that's not what matters, it's the characters that are the important part. What they do, the relationships, the glimpse into their lives and a chance to see how they are dealing with something that is such a heavy burden. Or, another example might be Lost, where in the end all the mysteries didn't matter (at least not to me, many others have argued this point), what mattered were the people and how they lived and changed and grew. So, watching Hazel and Gus deal with heavy issues that no doubt will take them both eventually, and how they try to struggle with that really is what the book was about. But further, it's about dealing with the realization that your heroes may not really be all that heroic, disappointment, love, fear, stress, and all the other things one would experience as a young adult.

I really liked it, and give it two thumbs up! A good first book to read for the year. My goal is to read at least 11 more!

Classy

We got a couch today! And not any couch, but a classy ass French provincial couch! You see, many a time we are in need of this style of couch, yet we never have it. Instead we end up with an 80s couch with a rounded top and a skirt. That is not the right style. I'm sick of that, so we approved the purchase of a couch for use when needed. Obviously it'll be stored off site as nothing can stay nice at the school. Additionally it is Lincoln Drama property, thus controlled by our board.

But none of that matters, because we have a couch (and a chair too)!

Incidentally, it looks pretty much like this... in fact I think this may be our set actually:

Happy Weekend

Though this weekend isn't as happy as usual. That's because this weekend there is Easter. I don't really enjoy holidays. I find them annoying because they disrupt the normal rhythm of my life. Things are closed, I have to go do things I don't feel like doing, for a holiday I don't celebrate. Upside, chocolate.

Anyhow, that's it.

OH, and being good Friday and death, I'm reminded that I began a geno-herbicide on the entire dandelion population of my lawn. TAKE THAT YELLOW WEEDS MAKING OUR LAWN LOOK BAD!

Who Would Jesus Bully

A few months ago Michigan was all "HEY! NO MORE BULLIES!*" However that little * had some small print that said "Oh yeah, except it's a religious belief, then you can't get in trouble for bullying because that's your religious belief. This is totally understandable given that we all know in the bible Jesus said, "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you... unless they're faggy little queers, in which case kick their fruity little bitch asses." True story, totally said that.

But these people are apparently doing what god wants them to do, because "God hates fags" and therefore rather than getting rid of them, (s)he wants us to torment them until they kill themselves. This is very reasonable. You see, god is super powerful, (s)he can do anything, so clearly rather than taking care of it (s)he would just have us do it!

(Can he create a rock so heavy that even he can't pick it up? SHUT UP! WHY WOULD YOU ASK SUCH A STUPID QUESTION THAT OBVIOUSLY IS A NO WIN SCENARIO BECAUSE EITHER ANSWER WOULD END IN GOD NO BEING ABLE TO DO SOMETHING... AS IF!)

This isn't an isolated trend either. The religious people of this country are trying to fight anti-bully laws because it infringes on their religious right to persecute others. However, a person's right to fling their arms around ends at my nose. Bullying is not a religious freedom. You may disagree, but you don't have the right to harass someone.

There is no room for bullying, and your religious beliefs don't change that. You are free to worship in your place of worship, but you are not free to harass. These bullying laws are often in response to harassment of gay students who take drastic action. Providing a free pass to the very people who are focused on such harassment makes it a lion without teeth.

In the end, again the so called "godly" expose themselves as nothing more than bullying bigots. So, go you!

NO EDGE!

The universe has no edge.

Incidentally, my belief of the possible also has no edge. There is not a lot that I look at and say, "Yeah, we can't do that." Sure, there are "That's not feasible", or "We can't afford that right now" but there isn't a "that's not something that is possible" for the most part.

Apparently that is why I get in trouble, because if I decide I want to do something I just find a way to make it happen when others might say "Yeah that's not possible" because what they're really saying is "I don't want to".

I don't like people who can't, because usually it's not can't, but won't. I discussed this in some of my blogs last week.

Please excuse this blog, it doesn't really have a point, it's more of just random thoughts in my head.

It's Been...

SIX MONTHS!

And of course all I can think is:

Yep, I've been in my current job for six months, so that's fun. Things are finally settling down. Paying off bills, earning vacation time, having medical insurance again (well I had that from day one, but still).

April Fool?

I forgot that yesterday was April Fools day! Now, usually my mom tries to do something, but come to think of it, I'm not sure if she's done that lately. So nothing happened today! With the exception of all the websites I like putting up lame content that wasn't interesting or worthy of foolishness.

As you can tell there's a lot going on, thus such interesting posts.

GET BACK!

Actually, it should be "get a new back". YES! MY BACK IS EVIL! In fact, I'm pretty sure if it wasn't attached to me it would probably grow an obscene mustache and then tie some poor damsel to train tracks while laughing. "MWAHAHAHAHAH!"

It really sucks when you want to sleep in and you're like "HEY BED! YOU ARE COMFY AND PERFECT FOR SLEEPING LATE!" And then your back is all "HEY BUDDY, GET OUT OF BED OR I'LL BE ALL PAINFUL!"

Jerk back.
